To ensure that your treatment is successful, we recommend taking certain steps to protect your restoration. Once you have met with Dr. Richard Pollock at Greater Washington Endodontics, we can go over instructions to help ensure recovery.
During your root canal, our office will remove any damaged tissue and restore the structure of the tooth. Endodontics treats the inner pulp of the tooth after it has been damaged by accident or tooth decay. If you have any questions about your procedure, be sure to speak with our endodontist. We will be glad to answer questions and help guide you through recovery. After your root canal, keep in mind the following:
- Be careful eating after the procedure until the anesthesia wears off to help prevent accidental injury.
- There might be some soreness after the root canal, so avoid chewing hard or sticky foods in the days after the procedure. Any lingering discomfort should decrease in the next few days.
- Take any medication prescribed by our endodontist or over-the-counter pain relievers as needed.
- If you notice any persistent swelling, tenderness, or unusual developments, contact us today.
Once your treatment has been completed, our endodontist can follow up with you to monitor your recovery. If you have any questions about root canals, call us. We will be happy to go over surgical instructions for root canals in Arlington, Woodbridge and Fairfax, Virginia.
